Marriage Is Possible

Living with the person you love is not what everyone thinks it is. It’s not waking up early every morning to make breakfast and eat together. It’s not cuddling in bed together until both of you peacefully fall asleep. It’s not a clean home and a homemade meal every day. It’s waking up to all of the chocolate & chips you bought for yourself, already eaten. It’s someone who steals all the covers and knees you in the face. It’s slammed doors and few harsh words, fights and the silent treatment. It is, despite all of those things, the one thing you look forward to every day. It’s coming home to the same person everyday that you know loves and cares about you. It’s laughing about the one time you accidentally did something stupid. It’s about eating the cheapest and easiest meal you can make and sitting down together at 10pm to eat because you both had a crazy day. It’s when you have an emotional breakdown and your love lies on the floor with you and holds you and tells you everything is going to be okay, and you believe them. It’s about still loving someone even though they make you absolutely insane. Living with the person you love with countless fights about absolutely nothing, but it is a love that people spend their whole life looking for. It’s not perfect and it’s hard, but it’s the most amazing love and the best thing you’ll ever experience.

Communication plays an essential role in relationships, and couples should strive for effective communication.

Because you are talking, it does not mean that you are communicating effectively. Silence does not mean that a couple is not communicating because non-verbals play a major role in communication. Each partner should make a point to listen and validate their partner’s feelings. Effective communication means both partners have an opportunity to share their ideas and opinions without anger, aggression, and attitudes.

When things start to get heated, it’s time to halt the conversation. Unfortunately, it is less likely there will be a resolution to a heated discussion. A heated discussion can compound the existing problem, because couples do not think rational when emotions are high. A heated discussion can lead to using words as weapons. Thus, it is likely that one or both partners will walk away emotional wounded. Couples need to recognize when they need to take a time-out. Taking a time-out can be very essential for the health of a relationship. However It’s imperative that the couple revisit the discussion after cooling down. Hopefully, the couple can approach the discussion more rationally once they have had a cooling down period.

The Six-Hour Romance

The Duncan’s love story is a total sensation. Ladies around the country are ecstatic with Alfred Duncan’s romantic surprise. Their amazing love story unfolded for the entire world. Social media, radio, television and church are buzzing about #foreverduncan.

I must admit that I could not get enough of #foreverduncan. Their story is a true testament that loves and marriage is possible. I could feel Sherell’s spirit through the airways. It was touching to read Sherell’s instagram post dated October 2, 2016, “God has blessed us immensely. All of this because we obeyed God, put Him first.”

I rejoiced with her as the results of her labor in prayer unfolded. God still answers prayers. It takes total faith to completely surrender your fleshy desires to the Lord. I was truly blessed to read how Alfred studied his future wife and I was excited to learn that he was seeking God.

Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteous and he will give you the desires of your heart. (Matthew 6:33)

Alfred and Sherell’s actions exemplified this scripture. Now, they are reaping the rewards of God’s blessings and favor upon their union. This is much more than a six hour romance story. This story is bigger than the Duncan’s because it is a reminder to the world that marriage is possible with God. The Duncan’s are committed because they understand the importance of being committed to Christ.

Marriage is possible with Christ.

Congratulations #foreverduncan and thanks for your obedience because others will be blessed due to your commitment to Christ.
